First of all, we want to make it as easy and comfortable for you as possible.

Let us know if you have any questions. We would like to suggest the following process:

Step 1

Send us an e-mail or call us (336-480-5175) if you have any question about the service, your images, resolutions, etc.  We want to ensure that all your questions are properly answered before you send out any images.

We understand your concern that you send your precious and irreplaceable images to a stranger and therefore want for you to be as comfortable as possible.  We want to ensure you that we have never had a case of lost slides or an unhappy customer.  Upon request we can provide you with many references.

We will gladly provide you with a FREE slide viewer loaner on projects over 500 slides to help you decide which ones you want to convert.

Use the decision guide below if you are evaluating different vendors.

Step 2

Note that the turnaround time for less than 500 images is usually about one week.  Let us know if you need them more urgently and we will work with you.

Step 3

Note that your digital images will be available for online download after conversion in order to give you faster access to your images.

Step 4

Our basic process (based on slides but same process applies to other media as well) is:

  • You can send your slides in either form that you prefer but if you have your slides in carousels or trays then you might want to consider taking them out of the carousel/tray and bundle them with a rubber band.  This is not a must but it will save you some money on shipping.
  • Indicate if you want to have them scanned in a certain sequence (by tray, carousel, bundle of slides, etc.).
  • Clearly indicate on your shipment if you want the 20 cent discount. If you have them bundled, then place them in Ziploc bags (that will keep them dry).
  • You can just include a note that explains what you would like to have done or include a copy of the latest e-mail exchange or click on the order form icon, print it out, fill it out and include it with your shipment.

  • Minimum order size is $20 before S&H.
  • If you ship via United States Postal Service then you can also ship them as "Media Mail" which will save you quite a bit over First Class or Priority Mail (but will take longer).
  • Place your slides in a sturdy box (that will keep them protected) and ship it to:

Step 5

We will let you know once we receive them.

Step 6

We will digitize the slides and perform other requested services.  As part of the basic service we will perform the following items::
  • Inform you when your slides arrive
  • Blow off loose particles such as dust with compressed air
  • Sort your slides by film type (Kodachrome vs. non-Kodachrome) and film size (110,126, 127, 35mm, etc.) and label them by stacks
  • Scan them (upon request we can send you the first images to review)
  • Crop the image to remove the slide frame
  • Rotate to proper orientation
  • Fix exposure issues, meaning that we lighten up the images that are too dark and that might have detail information in dark areas of the image
  • Fix most color casts
  • Adjust tonal range (black to white pixel distribution)
  • Sharpen the image 
  • Quality Check
  • Save images as JPEG files.  The images will be kept as uncompressed TIFF files throughout the whole process for highest quality
  • Place them in folders (if requested)
  • Automatically label the images
  • Burn them onto CD or DVD.

Step 7

We will make the images available for review online. You can also download the full-size review images (instructions will be provided) or request to receive a review disc in the mail.

Step 8

Once the images are available for review we ask you to review them and then respectfully request payment via

  • Personal/Company Check
  • PayPal (Payment@SlideConverter.com) - non-credit card method only
  • Credit Card (3% for credit card company fee will be added)
  • Money Order
  • Cashier's Check

Step 9

Once payment is received we will return the original slides

Terms and Conditions

The following are the Terms & Conditions that apply to the work that we do.  We take great pride in our work and will strive for your full satisfaction.

  • We will do our best to improve the quality of the images during the conversion to digital but we cannot guarantee the improvement.
  • We are not responsible for damage to the shipment of the digital CD or originals - please let us know if you would like to have your shipment insured.
  • We will keep your files on our server at least until you receive the completed shipment.  We might then decide to delete the files from our server - they will always remain your copyrighted material.
  • Please provide written permission by the owner if you have copyrighted material to scan.
  • Payment is due upon receiving deliverables (review images, CD, DVD).
  • We reserve the right to hold the final shipment until the check has cleared.  We usually ship as soon as payment has been received but in seldom cases we wait until payment has been cleared.

1.       What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the web site, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.

2.       What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.

3.       T he security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.

4.       How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. T he computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
